The Sand Ritual at a Naming Day Ceremony
We celebrated a beautiful Name Day on Sunday afternoon at the grandparents’ place in Luddenham. It was actually a combined name giving ceremony with the child’s first birthday. So we actually had double the celebration. There are many rituals you can choose to include in the ceremony. Parents chose to have the godparents light a candle and say their pledge. Parents also chose to include the sand ritual. It is a beautiful very significant ritual to emphasize the unity in the family. So parents, godparents and grandparents participated in pouring the sand into the main heart shape bottle.
